NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley raced out to a 15-point first-quarter lead, and cruised to a 61-12 win over Dryden here Friday night in IAC Large School junior varsity girls basketball crossover action.

Ava Fiedler and Maddy Noble scored four points apiece in the opening stanza to help the Cardinals to a 15-0 lead.

Gabby James and Elle Webb scored four points apiece in the second quarter to key a 14-5 run that gave Newark Valley a 29-5 lead at the half.

Peyton Rhodes and Brianna Noble scored four points apiece in the third quarter to fuel a 14-2 blitz that upped the advantage to 43-7 heading into the final eight minutes.

Webb and Brianna Noble pumped in six points apiece in the fourth quarter as the Cardinals closed the game with an 18-5 run.

Webb led Newark Valley with 13 points, while Brianna Noble scored 12 points, and Fiedler had 10 points, three rebounds, five steals, and one blocked shot.

Natalie Wandell scored eight points and grabbed six boards in the win, while Maddy Noble had eight points and five rebounds, Rhodes added six points, nine rebounds, and five steals, and James chipped in with four points, five rebounds, 12 assists and three steals.

Newark Valley returns to action Tuesday at Thomas A. Edison.
