IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: STRONG SECOND QUARTER PROPELS OWEGO TO 54-43 WIN OVER WINDSOR (2024-12-13)
Tioga County Sports ReportOWEGO — Owego used a strong second quarter to take a 10-point lead into the halftime intermission on its way to a 54-43 win over Windsor here Friday night in STAC girls basketball action.
Jenna McEvoy knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points in the first quarter, and Eva Crawford added four points to help the River Hawks to a 15-13 lead after the first eight minutes.
Jenna McEvoy scored five more points, including her second 3-pointer, and Ashlyn Dalton and Kylie Grippen also canned 3-pointers as Owego used a 16-8 run in the second quarter to take a 31-21 lead at the half.
Madison McEvoy picked up the scoring slack in the third quarter with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Crawford added six points to fuel a 16-11 spurt that put Owego up 47-32 entering the final eight minutes.
Madison McEvoy led Owego with 13 points and three steals, while Crawford had 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals, and Jenna McEvoy scored 10 points.
Lexi Herceg had seven points and four assists in the win, while Grippen added six points, and Dalton chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
Berkly Ingram led Windsor with 13 points.
Owego, now 2-2, returns to action Tuesday at Oneonta.
