IAC WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY RIDES PARADE OF PINS TO 74-0 WIN OVER MARATHON (2024-12-11)

MARATHON — Newark Valley won all 10 contested weight classes, including eight by pin fall, and picked up three forfeits in a 74-0 win over Marathon here Wednesday night in IAC wrestling action.

Freshman Chance Spoonhower won the only bout to go the full six minutes, forging a 7-3 decision over Simon Donah at 116 pounds.

Junior Titus Callahan was dominant in a 20-3 technical fall over Trenton Vinson at 215 pounds.

Eighth-grader Jacob Shipman (59 seconds) at 124 pounds, senior Trevor Middendorf (1:51) at 131, junior Logan Woodin (50 seconds) at 170, and senior Gabe Merrill (1:53) at 190 all recorded first-period fall for the Cardinals.

Junior Michael Wandell (2:47) at 138 pounds, junior Logan Rhodes (3:30) at 145, junior Cadin Creeley (3:51) at 160 pounds, and senior Austin DeBolt (3:21) at 285 pounds also registered falls for Newark Valley.

Freshman Kenny Slater at 101, sophomore Andrew Lelik at 108, and junior Marcos Escalante at 152 picked up forfeits for the Cardinals.

Newark Valley returns to action Saturday at the Dave Buck Memorial Tournament in Elmira.
