Tioga County Sports Report
CANDOR — This could be a very memorable season for both of Candor’s bowling teams. The boys and the girls are loaded with solid veteran keglers and are hoping to challenge for a trip to the state championships.

“Candor has the potential of going to states if they keep bowling and improving as they are right now,” coach Mike Kirk said. “If they don't go as a team Kody (Floyd), Tyler (Dunham), Kaitlyn (Floyd) and Calli (Marsh) (could go) to states in other ways.

Kaitlyn Floyd has already made a state tournament appearance, competing as a Section IV all-star in the girls Composite tournament last season.

BOYS
Seniors Floyd, who carried a 211.3 average last season, and Dunham, juniors Malcolm Jackson and William Dizer, and sophomore Stanley Winnick look solid.

Floyd, an IAC first-team all-star, rolled a season-high 707 series while Dunham, a second-team pick, hit a season-best 687 as the Coyotes improved to 13-3 Tuesday.

Floyd also competed in the state qualifier last season.

GIRLS
Floyd, a senior, and junior Marsh rolled season-highs Tuesday with 587 and 540, respectively.

Seniors Kaydee Jackson and Kristen Baker, and juniors Jennarose Reagan, Raina Schneider-Kern and Mekenna Nixon have offered solid support as Candor is off to a 15-1 start.

The Coyotes are looking for solid contributions from freshman newcomer Allison Johnston as well.

Floyd, Marsh, Baker, Jackson, Reagan and Nixon competed in the state qualifier last season with Floyd posting the high game of the day (268).

In the IAC, KIrk feels Groton is a team to keep an eye on in the IAC Small School battle.

The Owego and Waverly boys, and Maine-Endwell and Unadilla Valley/Norwich girls are among the teams to contend with at the Division 2 state qualifier.
