TIOGA COUNTY — It's a light night in Tioga County with just three events on the docket, including a home game for the Newark Valley boys basketball team.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Groton (0-0) at Newark Valley (1-0), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Cardinals are coming off a 55-37 win over Greene Monday, while the Red Hawks open the season.

WRESTLING
Newark Valley (1-0) at Marathon, 5 p.m.: The Cardinals are coming off a 69-5 win over Groton in their season-opener last Tuesday, while the Olympians open the dual season.

Newark Valley finished third in the 13-team field at its Larry Goodrich Invite. Trevor Middendorf was NV's lone winner, but nine other Cardinals reached the podium (top six).

Marathon finished 17th in the 18-team field at the Clyde Cole Invite. Brendan Gummer was its only wrestler to reach the podium, finishing fourth at 160 pounds.
