IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: FOSTER LIFTS CANDOR TO 53-47 OVERTIME WIN OVER NOTRE DAME (20 PHOTOS) (2024-12-10)
Tioga County Sports ReportCANDOR — Junior Jakobe Foster scored 12 points in overtime to lead Candor to a 53-47 win over Notre Dame here Tuesday night in IAC South boys basketball action.
Carson Heidl scored eight points in the second quarter, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line to fuel a 13-9 Candor run that erased a four-point deficit and sent the game into the halftime locker room tied at 19-19.
The Crusaders outscored the Coyotes 13-6 in the third quarter, and maintained that seven-point lead until the midway point of the fourth quarter.
Candor used an 11-4 regulation-closing run to tie the game at 40-40 and force overtime.
Foster, who was 4 of 8 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, took over in overtime with a pair of free throws and a 4-for-4 effort at the line to fuel a 13-6 run.
Foster led Candor with 25 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, while Heidl had 13 points, 11 rebounds, and one blocked shot, and Teagan Kwiatkowski had six points on a pair of 3-pointers and three rebounds.
Donald Makie added four points in the win, while Jason Jantz hauled down 10 rebounds, and had two assists and one blocked shot, Mat Smith pulled down 10 boards, and Ryan Huizinga had six boards and two assists.
Gabe Patterson led Notre Dame with 15 points, and Finn Schweizer added 10 points.
Candor, now 3-0, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Tioga.
