"Our goal tonight was to forget the loss to Trumansburg from the previous night and play with more intensity,” Candor coach Carl Kanoff said. “We were flat and tense Monday and made far too many mental mistakes. We came out with good energy to start the game, but had too many defensive miscues. Once we got those in order, we started forcing a lot of turnovers that led to several fast breaks and once some offense started coming from our defense the game changed. That's the way we know we can play, and that's the level of drive and intensity we need on a nightly basis. We still have some defensive rotations to work out, and we were not free of turnovers - something that plagued us last year. But it's a long season, and it's good to get our first win so we can build on it"
Candor (1-1) returns to action Friday when they host Groton, The game is a non-league game that is replacing the loss of Tioga in both teams' schedules.
