Tioga County Sports ReportONEONTA — Newark Valley pulled away
from Windsor in a 33-16 victory here Saturday in the consolation game
of the Drago JV Girls Basketball Tournament.
The Cardinals dropped a 39-20 decision to Vestal in the opening round.
Consolation Game
Newark Valley 33, Windsor 16Newark Valley jumped out to an early lead behind its defense, and pulled away for a 33-16 win over Windsor.
Gabrielle James scored four points in the first quarter to help NV to a 6-2 lead.
James
and Madeline Noble each scored four points in the second quarter to
fuel a 10-3 run that pushed the lead to 16-5 at the half.
The teams played even in the third quarter, and the Cardinals led 23-12 heading into the fourth quarter.
Nat Wandell scored six points in the final stanza as the Cardinals closed the game with a 10-4 run.
James led NV with 10 points, while Wandell scored nine points, Elle Webb added six points, and Noble chipped in with four.
Opening Round

jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, and cruised to a
39-20 win over Newark Valley in the opening game of the Drago
Tournament.
The Golden Bears led 12-0 at the end of the first quarter.
NV's Gabrielle James scored four points in the second quarter in a 9-4 run that closed the gap to 16-9 at the half.
Vestal took firm control of the game with a 14-5 third-quarter blitz.
Brianna Noble and James scored six points apiece, and Nat Wandell added four points to lead Newark Valley.
