THE WEEK AHEAD: MORE TIOGA COUNTY TEAMS OPEN SEASONS AS WINTER SEASON PICKS UP STEAM (2024-12-08)

TIOGA COUNTY — A number of Tioga County teams open their seasons this week as the 2024-25 winter sports season heats up.

There are 30 games on the docket this week, including eight on Tuesday, and six on Friday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (3)
There are no home events on the docket.

TUESDAY (8)
•  Candor hosts Notre Dame in a girls-boys basketball doubleheader.

•  The Newark Valley girls host Cortland in their first home basketball game of 2024-25.

•  SVEC hosts Waverly and Chenango Forks in girls wrestling duals.

•  The Owego girls host Chenango Forks in a STAC Central Division basketball match-up.

•  Owego hosts Chenango Forks in a STAC boys swim meet.

WEDNESDAY (3)
•  The Newark Valley boys play their first home game against Groton.

THURSDAY (5)
•  Candor hosts Tioga in an IAC South Small School Division match-up.

•  Owego hosts Waverly in boys and girls wrestling duals.

•  S-VE boys basketball opens the 2024-25 season at home against IAC South Small School rival O-M.

FRIDAY (6)
•  Candor hosts Groton in an IAC crossover girls basketball contest.

•  Newark Valley hosts Dryden in an IAC crossover girls basketball contest.

•. The SVEC girls wrestling team is at the U-E Tradesmen Tournament.

•  The Owego girls host Windsor in their fourth home basketball game of the young season.

SATURDAY (5)
•  SVEC wrestling is at the Coach K Duals in Norwich.

•  Owego is wrestling at the Campbell-Savona Holiday Duals.

•  Owego is in action at the Elmira Boys Swimming & Diving Invite.
