HS GIRLS WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY’S MORSE PLACES 7TH AT HOME (2024-12-06)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley has a small group of female wrestlers this season and one of them, Alea Morse, placed seventh in her high school debut at the Larry Goodrich Girls Invitational here Friday.

Morse went 2-2, opening the tournament with a 38-second fall over Codi Lundfelt of Elmira. In the second round, she fell to Chloe Underwood of Shenendehowa by a 14-3 technical fall.

Underwood went on to place third as the Plainsmen captured the team championship.

Following a bye, the freshman entered the consolation bracket, where she lost to Owego’s Callie Deming by a 13-3 tech fall. That put Morse in the seventh-place match where she dispatched Oneonta’s Brooklynn Boecke in 36 seconds.
