TIOGA COUNTY SPORTS REPORT: CANDOR'S SWARTZ, MAKIE SHARE 'PLAYER OF YEAR' HONORS; TIOGA'S MEZZATESTA, CANDOR'S QUINLAN ALSO EARN TOP HONORS (2024-12-05)
Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — Senior
Phoebe Swartz and sophomore
Emmi Makie proved a potent 1-2 punch, and led Candor to a New York State, Class D title. They share the
Tioga County Sports Report Volleyball "
Player of the Year" honors.

Lilly Mezzatesta is the "
Newcomer of the Year," and Candor's
Pam Quinlan is the "
Coach of the Year."
Swartz was a floor general in the truest sense of the word, but was also a presence at the net, and at the service line.
Swartz registered 493 setter assists on the season, to go along with 250 service points, including 70 aces, 67 kills and 14 blocks, and 120 digs.
Makie was a force at the net, but also led the team at the service line, and could play defense as well.
Makie had 290 points, including 91 aces, to go along with 198 kills and 15 blocks, 69 digs, and 10 assists.
Mezzatesta did a little of everything for the Tigers, and did it well. She was effective at the service line, was a presence at the net, played defense, and set on occasion.

Quinlan coached her Coyotes to a 16-1 record this season. She won another IAC Small School title, her 13th Section IV title, and fourth New York State Class D title.

Phoebe Swartz, senior, Candor: See above.
Emmi Makie, sophomore, Candor: See above.
Maggie Hamed, junior, Owego: A force at the net, Hamed is an all-around standout. She had 280 kills, five blocks, 137 digs, 40 service aces, and 13 assists.
Lexi Herceg, senior, Owego: A director on the floor and a presence at the net, Herceg had 591 setter assists 45 kills and 15 blocks, 42 aces, and 30 digs.
RaeAnne Feeko, junior, Tioga: Like the majority of Tioga standouts over the years, Feeko can play all over the floor with equal aplomb. A setter by trade, Feeko is a threat at the net, and can play defense.
Faith Brenchley, senior, S-VE: Brenchley, a floor general in its truest sense, had 182 service points, including 42 aces, 379 setter assists, 96 kills, eight blocks, and 205 digs.
Nicola Soper, junior, Candor: Soper was a powerhouse at the net
with 277 kills and three blocks, but she contributed elsewhere as well
with 105 points, including 23 aces, five assists, and 90 digs.
The Second Seven
Kali Bailey, senior, Tioga: A force at the net, and at the service line, Bailey is another Tiger who could do it all.
Lillie Kirk, senior, Waverly: A skilled all-around player with a head for the game, Kirk registered 63 kills and eight blocks, to go along with 20 service aces, six setter assists, and 127 digs.
Logan Georgia, senior, Owego: A strong presence at the net, Georgia had 146 kills and 57 blocks, to go along with six digs, five assists, and four aces
Kathryn Stouffer, senior, Candor: A good all-around player, Stouffer was a major contributor in Candor's state title run. She had 178 points, including 38 aces, 96 kills, 120 digs, and four assists.
Lilyanah Doolittle, senior, S-VE: A dynamo at the net, Doolittle finished the season with 126 points, including 33 aces, 36 digs, 218 kills, and 45 blocks.

Kayla Newman, senior, Owego: Newman contributed at the net and on defense for the River Hawks. She had 82 kills and seven blocks, 89 digs, seven assists, and 23 aces.
