TIOGA COUNTY — Senior Vasil Brich had another outstanding season, and led Owego to its fourth consecutive Section IV title. He is the 2024 Tioga County Sports Report Boys Soccer "Player of the Year."

SVEC seniors Noah Banks and Claas Huenecke share "Offensive Player of the Year" honors, while Owego senior Jaxson Belokur is the "Defensive Player of the Year," Owego junior Connor Kotski is the "Keeper of the Year," and Owego's Alessio DeMichele is the "Coach of the Year."

Fast and athletic, Brich uses a strong and accurate leg, and a high soccer IQ to put himself in position to score. He recorded 18 goals and dished out 10 assists on the season.

Fast, with good foot skills, good speed, a strong leg and a hefty soccer IQ, Banks scored 18 goals and doled out a team-high 19 assists this season.

A proven finisher, Huenecke had an innate ability to be in the right place at the right time. He was among the leaders in the region with 28 goals, and also had 12 assists.

A lockdown defender, Belokur was a key component in a River Hawk defense that allowed just 14 goals in 20 games this season.

Not only did Kotski allow just 14 goals, he posted eight clean sheets (shutouts) in helping Owego to a STAC title, and another Section IV title.

DeMichele has turned the River Hawks into one of the best programs in Section IV, winning the last four Section IV, Class B titles. This year, Owego won its first 19 games before falling in the state quarterfinals.

Vasil Brich, senior, Owego:

Matt Higgins, senior, Owego: A talented all-around player with good speed and a knack for finding the net, Higgins scored 18 goals and dished out five assists.

Zayir VanScoy, senior, Owego: If there was a second assist in soccer (like hockey), VanScoy would likely have more than doubled his assist total. Possessing a high soccer IQ, VanScoy was a presence in the midfield, scoring eight goals and dishing out seven assists.

Claas Huenecke, senior, SVEC: See above.

Jaxson Belokur, senior, Owego: See above.

Bela Krenner, senior, Newark Valley: Krenner has a great head for the game, and possesses all the skills a coach wants. He scored nine goals and doled out 12 assists.

The Second Seven

Elijah Williams, junior, Newark Valley:
Fast and a strong finisher, Williams scored nine goals and dished out six assists.

Jesse Lantz, freshman, Waverly:
Quick and not afraid of contact, Lantz scored five goals for the Wolverines.

Jason Jantz, senior, SVEC:
A fast and physical defender, Jantz was a mainstay for the Eagles in the defensive end, but also had four goals and four assists to help SVEC to a 12-5 season and trip to the Section IV, Class B semifinals.

Brady Landmesser, junior, Tioga: A big body with a strong leg, Landmesser scored three goals and dished out six assists.

Peyton Robinson, junior, Waverly: Quick with good foot skills, Robinson plays the game with an attitude. He scored three goals and doled out three assists.

Kyle Jantz, sophomore, SVEC: Possessing a strong soccer savvy, Kyle Jantz was a presence in the midfield for the Eagles. He scored five goals, and dished out 11 assists.

Connor Chobot, senior, Owego:
A bit overlooked, Chobot kept things moving in the midfield for the River Hawks. He scored one goal and dished out two assists.
