IAC BOYS SOCCER: SVEC'S BANKS, JANTZ SHARE DIVISIONAL MVP HONORS; SIX TEAMMATES EARN ALL-STAR ACCOLADES (2024-11-27)
Tioga County Sports ReportSPENCER / CANDOR — Seniors Noah Banks and Jason Jantz were named IAC South Large School Division co-Most Valuable Players, while six of their teammates earned all-star accolades in recent voting by the division's coaches.
Fast, with good foot skills, good speed, a strong leg and a hefty soccer IQ, Banks scored 18 goals and doled out a team-high 19 assists this season.
Jason Jantz, a fast and physical defender, was a mainstay for the Eagles in the defensive end, but also had four goals and four assists to help SVEC to a 12-5 season and trip to the Section IV, Class B semifinals.
FIRST TEAM
Claas Huenekce, senior, SVEC: A proven finisher, Huenecke had an innate ability to be in the right place at the right time. He was among the leaders in the region with 28 goals, and also had 12 assists.
Kyle Jantz, sophomore, SVEC: Possessing a strong soccer savvy, Kyle Jantz was a presence in the midfield for the Eagles. He scored five goals, and dished out 11 assists.
Owen Bly, senior, SVEC: A bit overlooked, Bly was an integral piece of the Eagle midfield. He scored two goals, and dished out three assists.
Tyler Greeno, senior, SVEC: Green was a strong defender and key piece in the Eagle defense that allowed just 24 goals in 17 games this season.
SECOND TEAM
Sirron Irvin, junior, SVEC: Tall and athletic, Irvin had 91 saves, and posted three shutouts in the net for the Eagles this season.
Gavin Bates, sophomore, SVEC: Another important piece in the Eagle D, Bates had a strong year in the defensive end.
