NYS VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR WINS POOL PLAY OPENER (20 PHOTOS) (2024-11-22)

GLENS FALLS — Candor controlled the majority of the momentum in the first set, then had to rally in the second to sweep Tuxedo, 25-14 and 25-22, in the first pool play match at the 2024 NYSPHSAA Class D Girls Volleyball Championships here Friday.
In the first set, the Coyotes broke a 4-4 deadlock with six-point run and the Tornadoes never got closer than five points.
The second set saw Tuxedo snap an early deadlock and double up Candor at 16-8.
The Coyotes would battle back as Emmi Makie served up three consecutive aces to close the gap to 19-18. Still down a point, Nicola Soper came through with a big hit to the back row to tie the game at 20, then put Candor up by a point with a shot off #9.
Tuxedo would tie the set at 21, but the Coyotes took four of the final five points.
