CANDOR'S MAKIE, OWEGO'S CHRYSLER NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK'Makie narrowly missed a triple-double in leading Candor to a four-set win over Lafayette in the quarterfinals of the New York State, Class D volleyball playoffs. The Coyotes return to state semi-final pool play.
Makie registered 16 kills, 15 service points, including a pair of aces, and nine digs, to go along with four blocks.
Chrysler finished 41st at the New York State Class B Cross Country Championships. She clocked in with a time of 19:58.

OWEGO'S PALLADINO NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BOYS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'Palladino scored on two long runs in the first quarter to keep the River Hawks in the game early in when ended up as a 42-21 loss to Maine-Endwell in the Section IV, Class B championship game.
Palladino scored on runs of 41 and 71 yards to help Owego keep pace with M-E in the first quarter. He finished the game with 139 yards and two TDs on 17 carries.
