COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR GRADS LEAD HARTWICK COLLEGE TO 20-2 SEASON; OWEGO GRAD PALLADINO CONTRIBUTES OFF BENCH (2024-11-11)

ONEONTA — Hartwick College, led by Candor grads Braelyn Hornick and Shelby Swartz, rallied for a 3-1 win over Oneonta to close the season on a seven-match win streak and with a 20-2 record.

Hornick, a senior, had three service points, 46 setter assists, three kills, and 20 digs in the win over Oneonta, while Swartz, a junior, had 10.5 points (one ace), eight kills, three blocks, eight setter assists, and 21 digs.

Owego grad Sophia Palladino, a sophomore, also contributed for Hartwick, coming off the bench to add two points (one ace), five digs, one kill, and one assist.

For the season, Hornick, who started all 22 matches and played in all 80 sets this season, led the team with 809 setter assists, 39 service aces, and  224 digs. She also had 90 points, 37 kills, and 27 blocks.

Swartz, who also started all 22 matches and played in all 80 sets, led the team with 283.5 points, 39 service aces, 233 kills and 224 digs. She also had 23 assists and 22 blocks.

Palladino, who played in 37 sets, had 38 points (eight aces), 30 kills, 50 digs, and two assists.

Hartwick opens the Empire 8 Tournament Tuesday against SUNY Brockport.
