SECTION IV VOLLEYBALL: S-VE STRUGGLES TO 1-5 MARK AT CLASS C SEMI-FINAL POOL PLAY (24 PHOTOS) (2024-11-07)
Valley Sports Report TIOGA CENTER — Third-seeded S-VE saw its season end Thursday night after struggling to a 1-5 record in the Section IV, Class C semi-final pool play.
The Panthers opened the night dropping a pair of sets to seventh-seeded Edison by scores of 25-14 and 25-16.
S-VE were also swept by top-seeded Tioga by scores of 25-17 and 25-10.
The Panthers only win came against fourth-seeded Trumansburg, and cost the Blue Raiders a berth in the finals. S-VE bested T-Burg, 26-24, in the first set, but the Blue Raiders answered with a 25-18 win in the second set.
Tioga posted a 5-1 record to advance to Saturday's championship match.
Trumansburg and Edison finished pool play with 3-3 records, and the Spartans finished off their improbable run, which began Tuesday with an upset of second-seeded Walton, to the final with a 25-13 win over the Blue Raiders.
The Class C finals will be played at Tioga Saturday at 11 a.m.
