TIOGA COUNTY — Newark Valley and Owego both open play in the Section IV boys soccer playoffs this afternoon with the Cardinals on the road, and the River Hawks at home.

Class C Opening Round
9-Newark Valley (5-6-1) at Newfield (6-6),3:30 p.m.: The Cardinals ended the regular season with a 6-4 loss to SVEC Thursday, while the Trojans blanked Watkins Glen, 2-0, on Oct. 11.

The two teams split a pair of regular-season meetings, with Newfield winning at home, 3-2, on Sept. 17, and Newark Valley winning, 4-3, at home on Oct. 4.

Class A Semifinals
3-Johnson City (2-12) at 2-Owego (16-0), 7 p.m.: The River Hawks are coming off a 4-1 win over Ithaca in the STAC Championship game Monday night, while the Wildcats dropped a 6-0 decision to Vestal in its regular-season final on Oct. 10.
