IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR AVENGES EARLY-SEASON LOSS, PULLS EVEN IN SMALL SCHOOL STANDINGS WITH SWEEP OF S-VE (24 PHOTOS) (2024-10-22)

CANDOR — Candor avenged an early-season loss, and drew into a first-place tie atop the IAC Small School volleyball standings with a sweep of S-VE here Tuesday night.

The Coyotes, who dropped a five-set thriller to the Panthers a month ago, won by scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-12.

Both teams have one loss in league play, with S-VE at 10-1 and Candor at 9-1.

Emmi Makie led Candor with 14 service points, including six aces, seven kills, one block, and two setter assists, while Jill Teribury served up 12 points, Nicola Soper registered eight points (two aces), 14 kills, and eight digs, and Phoebe Swartz had seven points (two aces), 22 assists, five kills, and seven digs.

Kate Stouffer had three points, six kills, and four digs in the win, while Malley Heidl had two points, two kills, two assists, and four digs, Emmi McCracken added two kills, and Ryleigh Bowman and Hazel Ray each chipped in with two digs.

Kelsea Swayze led S-VE with six points (two aces) and three digs, while Faith Brenchley had eight assists, 10digs, and three kills, and Amani Diboun added two kills, two assists, and seven kills.

Makana Diboun recorded seven digs for the Panthers, while Lilyanah Doolittle registered two kills and two blocks, Andy Wallace added two kills and two digs, and Lauren Gillette chipped in with two points.

Candor closes out the regular season with a home match against Groton Thursday, and a match at Moravia Tuesday, while S-VE finishes regular-season play Thursday at home against Moravia.

CANDOR SWEEPS JV MATCH
Candor swept the junior varsity match by scores of 25-21 and 25-21.

Lizzy Murray led Candor with nine points, including four aces, six kills and three assists, while Zoe Travis had five points (two aces), Ashlan Heidl had seven assists, Abby Anderson recorded six digs, and Montana Vorhis chipped in with five digs.

Trinity Dasher led S-VE with 10 points, including five aces, three kills, five digs, and three assists, while Jayde Bailey had nine points (four aces), and five digs, Maddy Ashby had seven points (three aces), four kills, and four digs, Eliana Middlebrook had six points and three digs, Reece Hickey added four kills and three blocks, and Molly Rice and Emma Neish each chipped in with four digs.
