THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON SOCCER, CROSS-COUNTRY GETS UNDER WAY (2024-10-20)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — The postseason begins for soccer and cross-country, while the volleyball, girls swimming, and football seasons are drawing to a close as well.

There are 17 events on the docket this week, including six on Tuesday, and three apiece on Thursday and Saturday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (1)
•. Owego hosts Ithaca in the STAC Boys Soccer championship game.

TUESDAY (6)
•  Candor hosts S-VE in a key IAC Small School volleyball match-up.

•  SVEC hits the road to top-seeded Waverly in a quarter-final match-up in the Section IV, Class B girls soccer playoffs.

•  Newark Valley hosts Delhi in a Class C girls soccer opening-round contest.

•  Owego travels to Chenango Valley for the semifinals of the Class A girls soccer playoffs.

• Newark Valley hosts Trumansburg in IAC Large School volleyball action.

•  Owego travels to Tioga to take on Waverly in a divisional volleyball match. (Waverly has played its home games at Sayre and Tioga this season due to a gym renovation project.)

WEDNESDAY (2)
•  Owego hosts Johnson City in the semifinals of the Class A boys soccer playoffs.

•  Newark Valley travels to Newfield for a Class C boys soccer opening-round match-up.

THURSDAY (3)
•  Candor wraps up the volleyball regular season at home against Groton.

•  Newark Valley wraps up the volleyball regular season at home against Edison.

•. S-VE volleyball wraps up the regular season at home against Moravia.

FRIDAY (2)
•  Newark Valley plays a rare Friday night home football game, hosting divisional rival Bainbridge-Guilford.

•  Unbeaten Owego hosts Johnson City in a Section IV, Division III match-up.

SATURDAY (3)
•  SVEC is on the road at Walton in a key Section IV, Division VI football match-up.

•  SVEC travels to Susquehanna Valley for a Section IV, Class B boys soccer quarter-final contest.

•  Owego is in action at the STAC Cross-Country Championships at Oneonta.
