SECTION IV CROSS COUNTRY: LOCALS SHINE AT MARATHON INVITE (2024-10-20)

MARATHON — It was a strong showing for local runners at the Marathon Invitational.

In the boys’ seeded race Owego was fifth at 154 points. Corning won at 43 points.

Javan Belokur of Owego was 18th in 17:54.60 and Sullivan O’Donnell was 25th in 18:17.30.

Deric Singer was 39th for Owego in 19:26.90 and Gavin Heath was 42nd in 19:33.90 followed by Dawson Bell in 19:35.40. Levi Saunders was 48th in 19:39.80. Luke Saunders was 58th in 20:13.10.

The Owego girls were fifth at 109 points. Ithaca won at 77.

Jaelyn Chrysler was seventh in 20:48.10 and Stella Palladino was 23rd in 23:07.50 followed by Abigail McHugh in 23:09.30.

Madison McEvoy was 29th for Owego in 23:34.30 followed by Lily LaFever in 23:39.40. Nora Schuyler was 62nd in 28:34 and Carolyn Schuyler was 67th in 29:27.80.

In the large school modified boys race Owego was fourth at 134 and Corning won at 15.

Joran Belokur was 18th in 10:11 followed by Jacob Preston in 10:14.2. Gabe Hudak was 42nd in 11:09.6 and Owego was sixth in the girls large-school modified race at 142. Ithaca won at 32 points.

Nola Rosenbarker led Owego with a 26th-place finish in 12:19.6 and Paige Deprospero was 28th in 12:22.3.

Owego’s boys won the JV race with a score of 44, topping Ithaca who was at 47.

Cadon Wasielewski won the JV race in 20:11.90 and Ethan Ianello was third in 20:31 followed by Everett Trinato-Snow in 20:31.90. Bryson Castro was 16th in 21:22.90. Nick Lomonaco was 33rd in 22:40.90. Maxwell Thompson was 47th in 24:11.80. Collin Burts was 68th in 26:58.90. Hunter Pitcher was 76th in 29:39.10. Ephraim Doty was 81st in 30:35.20.

In the boys unseeded race Newark Valley was 11th at 286 and  SVE was 15th at 363 points, with Ithaca winning at 61.

Edward Rixford was 11th for SVE in 19:05 and Leland Houston of Newark Valley was 31st in 20:06. Newark Valley’s Camden King was 36th in 20:19 and teammate Marcos Escalante was 44th in 20:35.

Gage Maxwell of Candor was 55th in 21:01 and SVE’s Zachary Paucke was 89th in 22:43. Lincoln Jones of SVE was 112th in 23:10 and Andrew Lelik of Newark Valley was 128th in 24:35. Reese Illsley of Newark Valley was 13tth in 25:25. SVE’s Anthony Wintermute was 146th in 28:52 and teammate Kaiden Shock was 149th in 29:16.

In the girls unseeded race Candor was second at 57 followed by Newark Valley at 61. Corning won at 30.

Emma Haynes of Candor was sixth in 22:25.90 and Newark Valley’s Brook Illsley was 10th at 22:59. Candor’s Kristin Baker was 14th in 24:22.50 and Olivia Vaughn of Newark Valley was 21st in 25:14.70. Candor’s Zoey lang was 23rd in 25:37.20 and SVE’s Madelyn Ellison was 28th in 26:02.80 followed by Candor’s Ayasha Schweiger in 26:06.70.

Newark Valley’s Leah Lansing was 32nd in 26:11.10 followed by teammate Malerie Gregrow at 26:22.40.

Newark Valley’s Abigail Escalnte was 36th in 26:49.30 and teammate Ellie Webb was 45th in 27:44.50. Newark Valley’s Emily LaPorte was 54th in 28:41.50 and Endor’s Calli Marsh was 56th in 29:06.20. SVE’s Damon Tubbs was 61st in 29:50.90 and Candor’s Bella Matisco was 65th in 30:18.40 followed by SVE’s Ashley Ellison in 30:46. Candor’s Emma Fey was 68th in 31:10.20. Brooke Ryan of SVE was 70th in 31:56.20. Newark Valley’s Kaitlyn Bohne was 75th in 33:52.20 followed by teammate Charlotte Vaughn in 33:52.40. Owego’s Eleanor Palmer was 83rd in the are in 35:15.70 and Owego’s Piper Cunningham was 90th in 41:41.60.

SVE was eighth in the boys small school modified race at 174. Sidney won at 62.

Ethan Eiklor of Candor was fourth at 10:05.1 and teammate Declan Shaw was 11th at 10:32.7. Newark Valley’s Sheldon Houston was 17th in 10:49.1 and Candor’s Kellen Williamson was 23rd in 11:02.6. Orion Halton of Candor was 34th in 11:24.3. SVE’s Tristan Jennings was 50th in 11:58.1.

In the small school girls modified race Nora McCann of Newark Valley was 13th in 11:42.6 and SVE’s Lillie Horyczun was 42nd in 13:48.4.
