Owego senior Kaelyn Katchuk had a record-setting week, and Canton’s Holden Ward returned from injury and led the Warriors to a win. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional “Athletes of the Week,” for the week ending Oct. 12.

OWEGO’S KATCHUK NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Katchuk set the Owego six-dive pool record Tuesday in a tri-meet against Vestal and Susquehanna Valley, and established a trio of new records Friday at the Elmira Invitational.

At the Elmira Invite, Katchuk broke the Section IV record of 590.3, the Elmira pool record of 589.85, and her own Owego school record of 561.85 with an 11-dive record of 612.85 — becoming the first diver to ever surpass the 600-point plateau.

Honorable Mentions: Waverly’s Mira Kittle (swimming), Towanda’s Anna Dunn (soccer), Wellsboro’s Laurel Kosek (cross country), Horseheads’ Mia Carro (swimming).

CANTON’S WARD NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Ward returned from injury to score four touchdowns, and lead Canton to a 46-34 win over Wellsboro.

Ward ran for two touchdowns, threw for one, and caught one in the game as he finished with 78 rushing yards on 10 carries, 10 receiving yards on two catches, and was 1-for-2 for 71 yards throwing the ball.

Defensively he led the team with eight tackles - two for loss - and one sack.
