SPENCER — Powerhouse Whitney Point survived a slow start on its way to a 5-0 win over SVEC here Wednesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
After a scoreless first quarter, Kylan Smith and Genevieve Huston scored second-quarter foals to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the halftime break.
After Sadie Short scored in the third quarter, Smith and Huston scored again in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin.
Whitney Point had a 20-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 10-0 edge in penalty corners.
Katelyn Klym recorded 17 saves in the cage for the Eagles.
Whitney Point improves to 12-2 on the season, and is 12-0 against Section IV opponents with 10 shutouts.
SVEC wraps up the regular season at 7-9.
