TIOGA COUNTY — Owego senior Kaelyn Katchuk continued her record-breaking season, and her classmates Jack Buchsbaum and Joseph Palladino helped the River Hawks to a big win at Section III Westhill. They are the Tioga County Sports Report / Guthrie Community Credit Union “Athletes of the Week,” for the week ending Oct. 12.

OWEGO’S KATCHUK NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Owego’s Katchuk set the Owego six-dive pool record Tuesday, and established a trio of new records Friday at the Elmira Invitational.

At the Elmira Invite, Katchuk broke the Section IV record of 590.3, the Elmira pool record of 589.85, and her own Owego school record of 561.85 with an 11-dive record of 612.85 — becoming the first diver to ever surpass the 600-point plateau.

Buchsbaum and Palladino each accounted for three TDs in Owego’s 55-20 romp over Section III’s Westhill.

Buchsbaum scored on first-half kick-off returns to 80 and 71 yards. He also rushed the ball three times for 27 yards, and one TD, and caught one pass for 20 years.

Palladino ran for 208 yards and three TDs on 14 carries. He scored on runs of 21, 43, and 7 yards in the win.
