SPENCER — Notre Dame scored a pair of late insurance goals to pull away for a 6-2 win over short-handed SVEC here Friday afternoon in IAC Large School girls soccer action.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to play down to 10 girls and likely will only have 10 for the rest of the year including for sectionals, but the girls fought hard once again and will continue to do so,” said first-year SVEC coach Michael Leljedal.

Makenna Keough, both off assists from Mira Maxwell, scored a pair of goals to give the Crusaders an early 2-0 lead.

M.K. Young added an unassisted goal to make it 3-0.

Freshman Allie Lyon put the Eagles on the board with about 2 minutes remaining in the half to close the gap to 3-1 at the half.

Keough finished off her hat trick, off another assist from Maxwell, early in the second half to make it 4-1.

Lyon scored on a free kick a few minutes late to trim the deficit to 4-2, but Maxwell and Young — off assists from Emily Coseo and Keough, respectively, scored to put the game away.

Notre Dame had a 22-7 advantage in shots-on-goal.

Nicole Poli had 14 saves in net for the Eagles.

SVEC wraps up the regular season Tuesday at Trumansburg.
