IAC GIRLS SOCCER: NEWARK VALLEY RALLIES TO TOP O-M, 3-1 (4 PHOTOS) (2024-10-09)

ODESSA — Newark Valley continued its season of comebacks, rallying for a 3-1 win over Odessa-Montour in IAC girls soccer action here on a rainy Wednesday night at Charles A. Martin Field.

Newark Valley trailed 1-0 at the half, but scored three goals in the second half to secure its fourth come-from-behind win of the season.

The Cardinals pressured O-M “relentlessly” in the second half, but it took more than 22 minutes to get the equalizer. With 17:32 remaining in the game, Adrianna Finta, off a feed from Liv Short, drove a shot into the net inside the far post to make it 1-1.

Four minutes later, Newark Valley took the lead when Kam Short collected a clearing attempt from O-M and launched a 35-yard shot over the goalkeeper, giving the Cardinals a 2-1 advantage.

With 7:56 remaining, Newark Valley sealed the victory when Finta sent a cross into the box, and Liv Short headed home the Cardinals’ third goal of the night.
