IAC VOLLEYBALL: S-VE MAINTAINS LEAD IN DIVISION WITH SWEEP OF UNION SPRINGS (18 PHOTOS) (2024-10-09)

SPENCER — S-VE maintained its lead atop the Small School Division with a sweep of Union Springs here Wednesday night in IAC volleyball action.

The Panthers, now 9-0 in league play, won by scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-8.

“The team played well tonight,” said SVEC coach Charity Meyers. “They had a great attitude and I’m very proud of what they have done this season.  We just need to stay focused and finish out strong.”

Faith Brenchley led S-VE with 13 service points, including four aces, two kills, and 23 setter assists, while Makana Diboun had 14 points, including six aces, two kills, and six digs, and Lauren Gillette had eight points, 13 kills, and two digs.

Andy Wallace had eight points, three kills, and seven digs in the win, while Kelsea Swayze had five points, three digs, and two assists, , Amani Diboun had two points, two kills, and three digs, and Lilyanah added four kills.

S-VE, now 9-1 overall, is in action Saturday at the Dryden Tournament.

JV: S-VE swept the junior varsity match by scores of 25-7 and 25-18, and also won an exhibition set 25-16.

Maddy Ashby led the Panthers with 10 points, including five aces, and 12 assists, while Jayde Bailey had 10 points (four aces) and two digs, Eliana Middlebrook had nine points, two kills, one block, and two digs, and Reece Hickey had eight points (five aces) and six kills.

Emma Neish had five points, three kills, and three digs in the win, while Riley Koch had three points (two aces) and two digs, Molly Rice added three points, and Jayden Riley chipped in with two kills.
