IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR SWEEPS PAST NEWFIELD (2024-10-09)

NEWFIELD — Candor got off to a quick start, then overcame a pesky Newfield in the second set on its way to a sweep of Newfield here Wednesday night in IAC South Small School Division volleyball action.

The Coyotes won by scores of 25-13, 25-22, and 25-17.

Phoebe Swartz led Candor with 12 service points, including six aces, nine kills, 24 setter assists, and four digs, while Emmi Makie had a team-high 20 points, including seven aces, six kills, and three digs, and Kate Stouffer had nine points (two aces), six kills, and six digs.

Nicola Soper had five points, 12 kills and three digs in the win, while Ryleigh Bowman had five points (two aces) and five digs, and Malley Heidl recorded five assists and six digs.
 
Emmi McCracken registered five kills for Candor, while Jill Teribury added two points and three digs, and Hazel Ray chipped in with two points.

Candor, now 10-2, returns to action next Tuesday at Tioga.

JV: Candor swept the junior varsity match by scores of 25-20, and 25-15. Newfield won an exhibition match, 25-22.

Nora Young led Candor with eight points, including five aces, while Valeria Polanco-Gil had eight points (four aces) and two kills, Lizzy Murray had seven points (three aces) and two kills, Ashlan Heidl had five points (four aces) and four assists, Montana Vorhis added five points, and Ava Anderson chipped in with two kills.
