STAC GIRLS' SOCCER: DODGE HAS 12 SAVES IN GOAL, BUT OWEGO FALLS TO MAINE-ENDWELL (11 PHOTOS) (2024-10-08)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — The Owego girls’ soccer team fell at home to Maine-Endwell on Tuesday, 3-1.

Olivia Dodge had 12 saves in goal for the River Hawks in the game.

After a scoreless first half, Owego got on the board first as Ashlyn Dalton scored off a Liz Reigle assist just 57 seconds into the second half.

With 32:55 left in the game Lilly Colling scored off a Kiara Neal assist and Maine-Endwell took the lead with 18:10 left as Neal scored off a Colling assist.

Mariska Schild scored with 14:41 left off an Ella Winn assist to make it 3-1.

Maine-Endwell had 19 shots and three corners and Owego had eight shots and two corner kicks.

Mariella Romanosky had four saves for Maine-Endwell.

“Maine-Endwell is a good team,” Owego coach Laurel Evans said. “They definitely know how to work together to be effective and we struggled to keep up.

“Our defense again played great and continue to impress me. Leah Clark, Cadia Fain, Kayla Casterline, Bella Silvestri, Taylor Signs and Kira Coppage all played well back there.

"On offense, we just had a hard time getting anything connected," she noted. "Thankfully, Ashlyn (Dalton) hit a long-range shot to get us a goal because M-E’s defense was not letting us get close and kudos to them. We will continue to work on improving and moving forward to continue to be a force.”

Owego returns to action Thursday when it hosts Elmira.
