STAC BOYS SOCCER: OWEGO DOMINATES IN 5-0 WIN OVER SETON CATHOLIC (2024-10-04)
Tioga County Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Owego remained unbeaten, and maintained its firm grip on the top spot in the STAC Central Division with a 5-0 win over Seton Catholic in boys soccer action here Friday night.
“I’m so delighted to have our best team performance at a great time against an opponent we knew would be dangerous and competitive across the field,” said Owego coach Alessio De Michele.
“The second half in particular, we completely dominated possession, created a lot of goal=scoring chances, and defended bravely high up the field,” he noted. “The boys really enjoyed their game tonight.
“We will enjoy our homecoming Saturday together and prepare for an important trip to Chenango Forks on Monday,” added De Michele.
With the win, Owego improves to 10-0 overall, and 9-0 in divisional play, while Forks (10-1-1 overall) is 8-1-1.
Matt Higgins scored three goals for the River Hawks, including one on a free kick, and another on a penalty kick. He also had one assist.
Adam Llewellyn and Sawyer Prentiss each scored one goal for the River Hawks, and Ryan Barnes and Zyir VanScoy each dished out one assist.
