Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER — Megan Williamson netted a hat trick to lead SVEC to a 5-0 win over Tioga in Section IV field hockey action here on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

“We have been working hard on starting the game strong from the first whistle and tonight we did that,” said SVEC coach Abby Gentile.

“We came out with a great offensive push to get a couple of goals on corners in the first quarter,’ noted Gentile. “From there, we continued forcing the issue in the offensive circle to get a few more goals in the second quarter.

“I was happy with how the girls played today,” added Gentile. “The offensive players crashed the goal really well, while the backs were able to maintain possession and keep the pressure on all game.”

Williamson opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the game, and Dallas Bohling scored just 74 seconds later to make it 2-0 with 10:49 left in the first quarter.

Williamson, off an assist from Kendall Gentile, scored with 12:25 remaining in the second quarter, then Gentile scored 97 seconds later to make it 4-0.

Williamson finished off her hat trick with 39 seconds remaining in the half to extend the lead to 5-0.

SVEC had a 13-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, and an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.
