IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR BOUNCES BACK FROM FIRST LOSS WITH SWEEP OF GROTON (2024-10-01)

GROTON — Candor bounced back from its first loss of the season with a quick sweep of Groton here Tuesday night in IAC Small School Division crossover volleyball action.

The Coyotes, who dropped a five-set decision to S-VE last week, won by scores of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-12.

Emmi Makie led Candor with 16 service points, including five aces, eight kills, and two digs, while Nicola Soper had seven points, five kills, and three digs, and Phoebe Swartz had five points, 22 setter assists, two kills, and four digs.

Keanna Fay had six points for the Coyotes, while Kate Stouffer had five points (two aces) and three kills, Ryleigh Bowman added five points, Jill Teribury had three points and three digs, and Malley Heidl contributed two points, three kills, three assists, and three digs.

Emily McCracken registered five kills in the win, while Ava Fernando had two points and two kills, and Kierra Austin chipped in with two points.

Candor returns to action Thursday when it hosts Union Springs.

JV: Groton a tightly-contest sweep in the junior varsity match by scores of 25-23 and 29-27.

Ashlon Heidl led Candor with 13 assists and three kills, while Lizzy Murray had four kills and two assists, and Nora Young added four kills.
