STAC GIRLS SOCCER: DALTON, SILVESTRI POWER OWEGO TO 4-0 WIN AT ONEONTA (2024-10-01)
Tioga County Sports ReportONEONTA — Ashlyn Dalton netted a hat trick, and Bella Silvestri doled out three assists to lead Owego to a 4-0 win over Oneonta here Tuesday night in STAC girls soccer action.
“The girls played really well all over the field,” said Owego coach Laurel Evans. “They were finding connections and their ball movement was the best we have had yet this season.
“Bella Silvestri played phenomenal, which helped control our mid and initiate those connections.
“Our defense — Cadia Fain, Taylor Signs and Kayla Coppage — as always played great to keep the ball away from their scorers,” noted Evans.
“They keep improving each game and we could not be more proud of the energy and effort they are bringing each game,” she added.
Leah Clark, off a feed from Dalton, put Owego on the board with 26:27 remaining in the first half, and that was all the River Hawks would need, but Dalton and Silvestri added a trio of insurance goals.
Dalton and Silvestri hooked with 16:25 remaining in the half to make it 2-0, and then again 50 seconds later to extend the lead to 3-0, which is where it stood at half.
Dalton finished off her hat trick about 5 1/2 minutes after the intermission to provide the final margin.
Owego had a 34-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, and 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Olivia Dodge had three saves in net for the River Hawks.
Owego, now 4-4, returns to action Thursday at Waverly.
