SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: NEWARK VALLEY RALLIES TO TOP TIOGA, 3-1 (24 PHOTOS) (2024-10-01) Tioga County Sports Report TIOGA CENTER — Tioga scored first, but Newark Valley scored three times in the third quarter to rally for a 3-1 win here Tuesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
Erin Luther scored about 4 1/2 minutes into the game, but that was the only goal the Tigers would manage against NV keeper Grace Guiles and the Cardinal defense.
Tioga maintained its 1-0 lead until Gabriella James scored about 4 1/2 minutes into the third quarter to tie the contest at 1-1.
Just 76 seconds later, Cecelia Whitney found the back of the cage to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.
Teagan Akers added an insurance goal with 1:20 remaining in the third quarter to make it 3-1.
Newark Valley returns to action Friday when it hosts SVEC.
