SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: GENTILE LEADS SVEC TO 5-0 WIN OVER NEWARK VALLEY (2024-09-27)
Tioga County Sports ReportSPENCER — Kendall Gentile scored a pair of goals, and had one assist in SVEC’s 5-0 win over Newark Valley here Friday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
“We had some really nice passing tonight that set up some quality shots for us,” said SVEC coach Abby Gentile.
“I really enjoy seeing my team work together to create opportunities for each other.
“We hope this win will give us some momentum for next week’s games,” Gentile added.
Gentile scored four minutes into the game, then assisted on Hayden Gehres’ goal about eight minutes later to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead entering the second quarter.
Gentile scored off a penalty corner with 4:07 remaining in the first half to make it 3-0.
Kaidence Root and Dallas Pohling each tallied goals in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin.
SVEC had a 13-0 edge in shots-on-goal, and a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Grace Guiles recorded eight saves in net for the Cardinals, while SVEC’s Katelyn Klym did not face a shot.
SVEC returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Tioga.
