OWEGO — Owego fell behind early, but rallied for a 3-2 win over Chenango Forks here Wednesday night in STAC Central Division boys soccer action.

“It’s always a challenging game against Forks, so I’m very pleased with the performance primarily, as well as the result,” said Owego coach Alessio de Michele.

“We started really confidently, good possession and had the territorial advantage, but one mistake cost us.

“The reaction to falling behind and sticking to our style of play and scoring three great goals is fantastic,” he noted.

“We still need to improve on managing small moments in the game to close things out because we should not have given a penalty away when we were in control, but it’s an excellent learning moment for the group,” added de Michele.

Vasil Brich had one goal and one assist in the win, while Ryan Barnes, and Zyir VanScoy each scored one goal, and Chris Ward and Jaxson Belokur each had one assist.

Owego, now 6-0, hosts Chenango Valley Friday night.
