IAC CROSS COUNTRY: NEWARK VALLEY, SVE FIND SUCCESS IN FIVE-TEAM MEET (2024-09-25)

SOUTHERN CAYUGA — The Newark Valley girls took first, followed by Spencer Van-Etten, while on the boys side Newark Valley was second and SVE fourth in a five-team meet at Southern Cayuga.

For the girls Newark Valley had a score of 22 followed by SVE at 49. They were the only two scoring teams.

SVE’s Madelyn Ellison was second at 22:14.2 and Newark Valley’s Olivia Vaughn was fourth I 22:46.4 followed by Brook Illsley (23:12.2) and Leah Lansing (24:06.4).

Newark Valley’s Malerie Gregrow was eighth in 24:22.9 followed by teammate Emily LaPorte (24:48.3) and Elle Webb (24:51.8). SVE’s Lilie Stevens was 12th in 25:45.2.

Newark Valley’s Abigail Escalante was 14th in 26:37.6 followed by SVE’s Katelynn Jayne (26:42.6), Kaylee-May Davidson (27:08.2), Ashley Ellison (27:24.4) and Sofae Cook (28:28.4) and Newark Valley’s Kaitlyn Bohne (28:38.7) and Charlotte Vaughn (28:46.5).

For the boys Newark Valley was at 53 and SVE was at 76. Southern Cayuga won at 35 and Groton was third at 67.

Newark Valley’s Marcos Escalante was fourth in 18:30.9 followed by SVE’s Edward Rixford in 18:32.9 and Newark Valley’s Leland Houston in 18:51.6.

Newark Valley’s Camden King was 10th in 19:52.5 and SVE’s Zachary Paucke was 12th in 20:00.1.

SVE’s Lincoln Jones was 18th at 22;02.7 and Newark Valley’s Hunter Terrell was 22nd in 23:12.5 followed by teammates Rhyley Payne (23:40.0), Andrew Lelik (23:52.3) and Reese Illsley (24:03.9).

Newark Valley’s Rex Chapman was 27th in 24:53.2 and SVE’s Jayden Stone was 29th in 25:02.5 followed by teammates Kenric Beach (25:03.3) and William Horyczun (25:07.4). SVE’s Anthony Wintermute was 35th in 29:35 followed by Newark Valley’s Austin Debolt in 35:37.1.

The SVE boys modified team was the only complete boys or girls modified team.

Newark Valley’s Sheldon Houston was third in the boys’ modified race at 10:30.5 and Newark Valley’s Jacob Elliott was sixth in 10:38.8. SVE’s Caleb Paucke was seventh in 11:07 followed by teammates Brady Ryan (11:22) and Tristian Jennings (11:22.5). Newark Valley’s Nathan Hollenbeck was 12th in 12:28.2 and teammate Gavin Gilmartin was 14th in 12:43.3. SVE’s Casey Blankenship was 17th in 14:42.9 followed by teammate Damon Tubbs (15:37.5).

For the girls Newark Valley’s Nora McCann was fourth in 11:53.6 followed by teammate Nora Roth in 11:56.7. SVE’s Lillie Horyczun was eighth in 12:42.1. Newark Valley’s Eleanor Escalante was 11th in 14:41.5 with SVE’s Mackenzie Rose 13th in 16:44.5 and Newark Valley’s Rebecca Kelsey was 15th in 22:27.8.
