STAC VOLLEYBALL: OWEGO RALLIES TO TOP WINDSOR, 3-1 (2024-09-19)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — Windsor pulled out a win in the first set, but Owego rallied to pull out a 3-1 victory here Thursday night in STAC volleyball action.

The Black Knights won the first set 25-23, but the River Hawks bounced back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-20.

“Windsor is a super-solid team,” said Owego coach Abby Manning. “It was a hard-fought battle between both teams.

“Our defense worked and was doing its job, which allowed our offense to do theirs as well,” she noted.

“We definitely have some work to do in some areas, but a ton of credit to my team for putting the work in and maintaining pressure on that Windsor team,” added Manning. “It’ll be another fun battle when we head to them in October.”

Maggie Hamed led Owego with four service aces, 16 kills, and 10 digs, while Lexi Herceg dished out 26 setter assists, and Logan Georgia registered six kills and five blocks.

Alyssa Harrington had eight kills in the win, while Shannon Maslin recorded eight digs, and Michaela Terry added three blocks.

Owego returns to action Saturday at the Johnson City Tournament.
