IAC BOYS' SOCCER: EARLY GOALS BY LANSING TOO MUCH TO OVERCOME FOR SVEC (8 PHOTOS) (2024-09-19)

Tioga County Sports Report
LANSING — The SVEC boys’ soccer team fell behind early and wasnn’t able to recover against Lansing on Thursday, falling 3-0.

Lansing scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Tolunay Ayar scored in the 12th minute ad Gavin Marsit scored in the 16th minute for Lansing.

Matthew Matusz scored in the 39th minute to cap the scoring for Lansing.

“We came out a little flat today and you cannot do that against a quality team like Lansing,” SVEC coach Jason Banks said. “Lansing is a good team that moved the ball well in the midfield and capitalized on some of our mistakes in the back.

“There are some good things that we did in the game and there are areas we will continue to work on as a team so that when we play better opponents we are more prepared,” he added.

Lansing had 14 shots in the game and SVEC had nine shots.

Sirron Irvin had nine saves in net for SVEC and Tobijas Rigdon had one save for Lansing.

For SVEC, it’s back to work to prepare for another big game this weekend.

“Will need to shake this off and get ready for a quick turnaround when we play another quality team like Dryden on Saturday,” Banks said.
