STAC GIRLS SOCCER: OWEGO DROPS, 1-0, HEARTBREAKER TO FORKS IN FINALS SECONDS (11 PHOTOS) (2024-09-14)

OWEGO — C.C. Kasmarick scored the game’s long goal with 11 seconds remaining to lift Chenango Forks to a 1-0 win over Owego here Saturday in STAC girls soccer action.

“It was an evenly-matched game, but Forks was just able to find the back of the net first,” said Owego coach Laurel Evans. “My girls played hard and played well, we just couldn’t find the net.

“Our defense was phenomenal today,” noted Evans. “Cadia Fain and Leah Clark were able to hold the middle, while Kayla Coppage and Taylor Signs worked well on the outside. The four of them were great and deserve a lot of credit today.”

Both teams got off seven shots-on-goal, and Owego had a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.

Olivia Dodge had five saves in net for the River Hawks, and Kayla Coppage had one.

Owego, now 1-1, returns to action Tuesday at Chenango Valley.
