Shelby Swartz, a junior, and
Braelyn Hornick, a senior, and Owego grad
Sophia Palladino, a sophomore, helped Hartwick College to the team title at the Lycoming Tournament over the weekend.
Hartwick opened the season Friday evening with a 3-1 win over Penn College.
Swartz registered a triple-double in the win with 14.5 service points, including two aces, 12 kills, and 10 digs to go along with one setter assist and one block.
Hornick directed the offense with 33 assists to go along with 4.5 points, including two aces, four digs, and two kills.
Palladino recorded eight points, eight kills, and three digs.
Later Friday night, Hartwick topped Lycoming College in five sets, winning the decisive fifth set, 15-9.
Swartz logged another triple-double with 23 points, including three aces, 20 kills, and 14 digs.
Hornick recorded 55 assists, 10 digs, three points, including two aces, and one kill.
On Saturday, Hartwick finished off a perfect weekend with a sweep of Penn State-Mont Alto.
Swartz had 18.5 service points, including four service aces, 14 kills, one block, and seven digs
Hornick recorded 47 setter assists, three points, including one ace, seven digs, one kill, and one block
Palladino added three points and three kills.
Hartwick returns to action Friday at St. Lawrence, and Saturday at Clarkson, and against Oswego State at Clarkson.
