THE WEEK AHEAD: 2024 FALL SEASON GETS UNDERWAY (2024-09-01)

TIOGA COUNTY — The 2024 fall season gets off to a slow start early this week, but hits full speed by Thursday.

There are 19 events on the docket this week, including seven on Friday, and four each on Thursday and Saturday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (0)
Labor Day.

TUESDAY (2)
•  The Owego golfers host Horseheads.

• The SVEC boys soccer team opens the season at Whitney Point.

WEDNESDAY (2)
•  Owego field hockey opens the 2024 season at home against Tioga.

• The SVEC field hockey teams opens the 2024 campaign at powerhouse Maine-Endwell.

THURSDAY (4)
•  The Owego boys open the season on the home pitch against Susquehanna Valley.

•  Newark Valley opens its field hockey season at home against Vestal.

•  The Owego girls swim team opens at Windsor.

•  Owego volleyball opens the 2024 season at Susquehanna Valley.

FRIDAY (7)
•  SVEC opens its 2024 football season at Lansing.

•  Newark Valley opens its football season on the road at Section III’s Mount Markham.

•  The Owego girls open the season on the home pitch against Susquehanna Valley.

•  Owego field hockey hosts Greene.

•  SVEC boys travel to take on Tioga on the pitch at Haggery Field.

•  The Owego tennis team hosts Chenango Forks in its season opener.

SATURDAY (4)
•  Owego and S-VE are in action at the Oneonta Forbes Cross Country Invitational.

•  Candor will be among 10 teams at the Corning Volleyball Tournament.

•  The Owego is in action at the Waverly Girls Swimming & Diving Invitational.
