SPOOK HILL 5K & KIDS FUN RUN SET FOR AUG. 17 (2024-07-22)

NEWARK VALLEY — The Spook Hill 5K Trail Race, Fun Run and Children's Run & Ride will be held Aug. 17 at Spook Hill Farm, 1069 Prentice Hill Rd., Newark Valley.

The event is sponsored by Newark Valley Community Connection, Inc., the Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce, the New York State United Teachers and Confluence Running.

The cost for adult early registration through July 31 is $35 and $40 after. The cost for students is $25 and the kids run is $15.

The 5K trail race, which features gorgeous panoramic views, will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Those who wish to walk the trail can begin at approximately 10 a.m. and a short course children's trail run and bike ride, targeted for children ages 3 to 7, will take place at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Raffles, food and music will be offered following the runs and ride.

The organizers hope to develop a mountain bike trail for a race next year, so once the foot race is finished participants and spectators are invited to take their mountain bikes and explore the trail.

Future plans include developing and connecting biking and hiking trails in the area, and feedback from participants will be appreciated.

Camping is available after 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at $20 per night. Campers will pay at the gate.
