Tioga County Sports Report
APALACHIN — Eyota Nation - Crawford came up a little short against Fury Fastpitch, dropping a 4-3 verdict in the semifinals of the Eyota Nation 16U Softball Tournament at Muth Park Saturday.

Eyota scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, but Fury came back with a run in the home half of the inning, then added two more in the second to take the lead for good.

Fury extended its advantage to 4-2 in the fourth and Eyota was only able to get one run back in the fifth.

Carsten Crawford walked with one away in the first, then Savannah Finan, Aubrey Salati and Ellie Hamilton-Jones followed with singles to give Eyota the early lead.

In the fifth, Finan led off with a single and scored on Ally Jennings’ double.

Chloe Perritt retired the final seven Eyota batters to secure the victory for the Horseheads-based Fury, which went on to place second behind NEPA Adrenaline out of Scranton.

Finan went 2-for-4 with two runs and Salati was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Eyota. Hamilton and Jennings contributed one hit and one RBI apiece, and Crawford, Kylie Grippen and Ruby Kocsis recorded one hit each.

The Eyota team features five Tioga County players — Crawford, Grippen and RaeAnn Craft from Owego, and Hannah Carpenter and Lexsie Douglas from Waverly. Athens’ Ruby Kocsis is also a member of the team.
