YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO MOSES FALLS TO U-E IN 10B SEMIS (2024-07-21) Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — U-E Gennarelli broke a 1-1 deadlock in the fifth inning and went on to defeat Owego Moses, 3-1, in the 10B semifinals of the Owego Little League 10U Tournament Saturday.
A walk and a one-out double put U-E in front, 2-1, in the top half of the fifth, then a one-out single followed by a passed ball, a steal and an error gave the visitors a little extra insurance.
U-E grabbed the initial lead with a double and single with one away in the first.
Owego knotted the score in the home half of the third after Maxx Thole doubled on a fly ball to center field, advanced to third on a wild pitch and stole home.
Nat Robinson and Dom Russell-Wilkins had singles for Owego, which posted a 4-1 tournament record.
The U-E pitcher recorded 10 strikeouts as his team went on to win the championship, finishing with a 5-1 mark.
