VESTAL — Owego exploded for nine first-inning runs to knock off Stoddard Builders/Skylark Diner, 22-10, in a Tri County Teener League 16U quarterfinal Friday evening.

An RBI double by Jake Bensley, and run-scoring singles from Noah Christ and Tyler Lewis highlighted the early uprising, which also featured eight free passes, seven of which were walks.

In the third, while sitting on a 10-1 cushion, Owego scored four more runs with Devan Card smacking a two-run single. Matt Lewis and Christ added singles with Christ plating a run and Lewis eventually scoring on a wild pitch.

Despite Stoddard countering with four runs in the home half of the inning, Owego put the game away with eight runs in the fourth. Card belted a bases-clearing double following a base on balls to Elijah Wheeler, a Matt Lewis single, and consecutive walks to Tyler Lewis, Danny Tavelli, W Niles and Christ.

Card scored on a Brown ground out while the final run came from Smith after he walked, Parker Jenkins singled, Wheeler walked and Matt Lewis walked.

Matt Lewis was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI while Card and Christ went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring three runs each. Card finished with five RBI, and Christ drove in three runs and swiped a pair of bags.

Tyler Lewis registered a hit, three runs, an RBI and three stolen bases; Bensley had a hit, run and two RBI; Smith and Wheeler contributed two runs and one RBI each; Tavelli and Niles chipped in by scoring two runs apiece; Brown added a run and an RBI; and Jenkins tacked on a hit.

Owego batters were walked 18 times.

Brown picked up the win, allowing just two earned runs in three innings. He gave up three hits and five walks while striking out three. Card pitched the fourth and did not allow an earned run, gave up two hits and three walks, and fanned one batter.

Owego faces the top-seeded Belgray Bombers Monday at 5:30 p.m. at a location to be determined.
