YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO SCHRADER UPSET BID COMES UP SHORT (2024-07-18)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — Owego Schrader was looking to upset U-E Vassil in the 12A semifinals of the Owego Little League 12U Tournament, but came up short in a 10-9 loss Wednesday.

Despite the loss it was an impressive day for Truett Hall, who belted a pair of home runs and accounted for nine runs.

The first dinger was a two-run shot which also scored Remmy Morgan and gave the hometown team a 4-3 edge in the top of the second inning.

The other came in the sixth, plating Harrison Miller and Jagger Chrysler to pull Owego within a run of U-E at 10-9.

Owego scored twice in the first and fourth innings as well.

Hall scored the game’s initial run on an error off the bat of Rocco Canfield and Colby Cordero scored on an error by the catcher for 2-0 lead.

In the fourth, Morgan and Hall were hit by pitches, and brought home on a Cordero double.

In addition to Hall’s homers and a pair of Cordero doubles, Adam Harvey added a double, making all five of Owego’s hits the extra-base variety.

Hall finished the game 2-for-2 with four runs and five RBI, and Cordero went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Canfield drove in one run, Harvey had one hit, Morgan scored twice and Miller tacked on a run.
