YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO 14A ROLLS PAST RBI IN TEENER PLAYOFF GAME (2024-07-17)

OWEGO — Camden Thole accounted for seven runs and five pitchers combined to throw a three-hitter as Owego defeated RBI. 10-3, in the Tri County Teener League 14U playoffs Tuesday.

After getting out of a jam in the top of the first inning, Owego erupted for a half-dozen tallies in the bottom of the frame.

Evan Canfield started things off by reaching on an error, stealing second and third, and scoring on Eric Schrader’s single. With two away, Dylan Gregory smacked an RBI single, Ryan Diedrich walked and Thole plated both with a single.

Thole moved to second on the throw following his hit, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Lucas Mott’s infield single. Ben Harvey and Lincoln Miller added singles, giving Owego four consecutive base hits, and Miller’s made it a 6-0 cushion.

Both teams scored twice in the third and RBI got another in the sixth, but Owego scored twice in the home half of the inning.

In the third, Brenden Whigham doubled, Diedrich walked and both scored on a Thole single.

Diedrich reached on an error in the sixth and ended up on second, then scored on a Thole hit. With two gone, Miller singled to bring in the final run.

Thole ended up going 3-for-3 with two runs and five RBI. Miller was 2-for-3 with two RBI; Schrader, Gregory and Mott contributed a hit, run and RBI apiece; Diedrich scored a trio of runs; Whigham recorded a hit and a run; and Harvey tacked on a hit.

Nolan Card, Schrader, Gregory, Whigham and Diedrich combined on a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking nine.
