YOUTH SOFTBALL: EYOTA NATION - HALL CLAIMS 10U TOURNEY TITLE (2024-07-17)

APALACHIN — Eyota Nation - Hall went 4-0-1 over the weekend to win the Gold bracket of a 10U tournament held at Muth Park.

On Saturday, Eyota wrapped an 11-2 victory over NEPA Adrenaline and a 2-1 win against Fury Fastpitch 2013 around a 2-2 deadlock with the BC Regulators.

On Sunday, the team smoked the Regulators, 15-0, then downed Stingers Green, 8-1, to claim the title.

Eyota 11, NEPA 2
Layla Robinson twirled a one-hit gem, striking out 11 and walking three.

Eyota gave up single runs in the first two innings while scoring five and six, respectively.

Three singles and four walks in the first would lead to all the runs Eyota would need.

Nina Gallagher highlighted the second inning with a double, and Eyota tacked on three singles, two hit batters and a walk.

Maela Thorpe went 2-for-2 with two runs and four RBI; Lydia Chase was 2-for-2 with two RBI; and Alannah Hall was 2-for-3 with two runs. Gallagher and Robinson scored two runs apiece; Harper Liechty had a hit, run and two RBI; and Lindsey Farry and Raven Cornelius scored one run each.

Eyota 2, BC Regulators 2
Hall singled, stole second and scored on Gallagher’s base hit to tie the game in the bottom of the third.

Gallagher smacked a home run for Eyota’s initial run in the first and went 3-for-3 in the game with a run and two RBI.

Hall had a hit and a run, and Robinson added a double at the plate.

Chase struck out 11, giving up six hits and three walks in the process.

Eyota 2, Fury Fastpitch 1
Chase walked, stole second and scored on Savannah Taylor’s single to provide the winning run.

Farry singled and scored on an error for Eyota’s first run.

Hall had the only other hit for Eyota.

Robinson fanned a dozen batters, did not yield any earned runs or walks, and gave up three hits.

Eyota 15, BC Regulators 0
Sunday was a different story against the Regulators as Eyota erupted for 10 hits.

The team scored six runs in the first, four in the second and five in the third.

Gallagher was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBI; Terrianna Orshal went 2-for-2 with a triple, run and two RBI; Liechty was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI; and Farry was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Robinson added a hit, run and RBI; Hall and Chase each scored twice; Denman chipped in with a run and RBI; Cornelius scored a run; and Thorpe drove in a run.

Robinson struck out nine, walked one and gave up one hit.

Eyota 8, Stingers Green 1
Robinson struck out a tournament-high 16 batters, giving her 48 Ks for the weekend.

Eyota scored in five of the six innings it went to the plate in and held a 3-0 lead before Stingers could plate a run, which was unearned.

Gallagher cranked out a pair of doubles as she went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Farry was also 2-for-3 and scored twice. Hall and Orshal recorded one hit, one run and one RBI apiece; Robinson and Denman each added a hit and a run; Liechty had a hit and an RBI; and Cornelius tacked on a run.
