YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO BLANKS SAYRE ON HARRINGTON NO-HITTER (2024-07-09)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — Gavin Harrington fired a no-hitter as Owego Robinson blanked Sayre Morningstar, 10-0, in four innings in a “C” division pool play opener in the Owego Little League 12U Tournament Monday.

Harrington struck out seven and walked three. He faced just 15 batters. He also received key support at the plate with six hits and 10 walks — including a double, run and RBI off his own bat.

Owego scored five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.

Doubles by Theo Robinson and Gavin Sipe; singles from Ethan Nikulich, Harrington and Dalton Marsh; walks to Chandler Serfass and Nolan Whigham; and an error off the bat of Slade Kiczek led to the early onslaught.

Owego scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, then tacked on another in the second. They ended the game via the 10-run “mercy rule” with a four-run fourth.

After loading the bases in the second with a walk, double and hit batter, Owego would make it 6-0 in the second when Serfass scored on a wild pitch.

In the fourth, Kiczek, Kaden Kacmar, Serfass, Robinson, Nikulich and Sawyer Calice were all issued walks, and Peyton Avery was hit by a pitch, ending the game.

Nikulich led the team at the plate, going 2-for-2 with arun and two RBI. Robinson chipped in with a hit, two runs and an RBI; Sipe had a hit and two RBI; Marsh contributed a hit, run and RBI; Kiczek and Kacmar scored one run apiece; and Avery tacked on an RBI.

Owego plays the Whitney Point Blowers Friday at 5:45 p.m. on Hyde Park Field 3.
